Dr. M. Derya Balbay

Prof. Dr. Mevlana Derya Balbay is Professor of Urology at Koç University School of Medicine and the VKV American Hospital in Istanbul. He graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School in 1985 and completed a uro-oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (1996–1999).

He began performing robotic urologic surgery in 2009 and has done or mentored more than 1,000 robotic cases — including radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with intracorporeal continent neobladder reconstruction, and partial nephrectomy — and received the SIU Distinguished Career Award in 2023.
