About

About the Mona & Philip Sunshine Symposium

An academic symposium dedicated to advancing oncology through collaboration between Emory University, Koç University, and Mayo Clinic.

Mission

The Sunshine Oncology Symposium brings together clinicians, surgeons, researchers, and trainees from Atlanta and Istanbul to share scholarship, discuss cases, and strengthen the international exchange that has defined this program from its founding.

History

Established in memory of Philip Sunshine and inspired by the decades of international friendship cultivated by his wife, Mona Diamond Sunshine, former Honorary Consul for Turkey in Georgia. The Symposium has grown greatly since it’s inception.

Our Partner Institutions

The program is a joint initiative of Emory University, Koç University in Istanbul, and Mayo Clinic. Together, these institutions support the annual symposium and the visiting fellowship it makes possible.

Fundraising

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the Mona and Philip Sunshine Symposium Endowment at Emory has reached $170,000 of its $250,000 fundraising goal — funds that directly support the symposium's programming and the visiting fellowship it makes possible.

We invite you to help us cross the finish line with your donation and become part of the future of the Mona & Philip Sunshine Symposium.
